The North Platte River is running above “Action Stage” at 7.81 feet on Thursday.

The National Weather Service considers “Action Stage as 7.5 feet. Authorities say that “action stage” is where residents should take mitigation action in preparation for potential flooding.

The forecast shows the North Platte will come close to reaching “action stage” by Saturday when the forecast call for the river to reach a level of 8.3 feet. The NWS defines “Minor” stage as “minimal or no property damage, but possibly some public threat.” The “minor” stage is listed as 8.5 feet.

The long-range forecast shows the river beginning to recede from its minor threat level crest by Monday.
