The University of Wyoming is once again offering nutrition assistance education to Carbon County residents.

At the December 3rd Board of Carbon County Commissioners meeting, University of Wyoming Nutrition Educator Candice McSpadden introduced herself. McSpadden informed the board that she has lived in Carbon County for 13 years and will be offering the Cent$ible Nutrition Program to our area once again.

McSpadden explained that the Cent$ible Nutrition Program offers free time management and cooking classes to families on government assistance programs, such as SNAP. The nutrition educator said the program aims to help Wyoming residents on a limited budget make healthy food choices.

McSpadden said the Cent$ible Nutrition Program receives funding from the federal government’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.

Through partnerships with local organizations, the nutrition educator explained that the food education program is accessible to all Carbon County school students.

It is unclear when the program originally ended and for what reasons.

The University of Wyoming will begin holding online Cent$ible Nutrition Program classes starting on the second Thursday of January. Visit the program’s website, https://uwyocnp.org/, for more information.

Bigfoot99 is working to set up an interview with Nutrition Educator Candice McSpadden to get more information about the federally funded food education program.
