WYO Help is asking for volunteers to collect holiday donations in Rawlins.

Residents of the city may have noticed fewer Christmas bell ringers this season. WYO Help Executive Director Kyle Borger told Bigfoot99 that his organization has had trouble recruiting volunteers after splitting with The Salvation Army last month.

In a written statement, Borger said the two charities have parted ways because The Salvation Army was taking too long, sometimes up to two full months, to pay vendors.

Borger provided Bigfoot99 with a statement from The Salvation Army’s Intermountain Division Executive Director Ian Anderson apologizing to vendors for his organization’s late payments. In the release, Anderson did not provide a reason for the delayed payments, simply stating that he is taking steps to address the shortfalls and improve the organization’s internal processes.

On November 1st, WYO Help Executive Director Borger issued a statement announcing the split from The Salvation Army. Borger wrote that WYO Help is working to create its own donation systems and services to allow for greater internal control within the organization.

In the same statement, Borger introduced the Good Neighbor Club. Touted as WYO Help’s answer to The Salvation Army, the Good Neighbor Club allows the charity to collect donations for local clubs, with community members deciding how the funds should be used.

Additionally, WYO Help has set up its own donation stations in Rawlins to collect money for the holiday season. As of the writing of this story, WYO Help has a single Carbon County donation station, inside Tractor Supply, located at 2201 Plaza Street. Borger told Bigfoot99 that his organization has been having trouble securing donations and recruiting volunteers.

Borger expressed his hope that Carbon County will support WYO Help’s Good Neighbor Club, enabling the organization to continue providing services that were previously supported by The Salvation Army.

Bigfoot99 has reached out to the local branch of The Salvation Army for a comment about the split. However, as of this story’s publication, our reporter has not received a response.

If you would like to help raise money for WYO Help, visit the donation station section of the organization’s website to select a date and time to collect holiday donations inside Tractor Supply. A link to the website will be included with this story when it is posted to the Bigfoot99 website later today.
