The Platte Valley Arts Council has won a $50,000 grant award from the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund. The grant was among more than $277,000 awarded to 15 projects around the state.

The legislature established the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund in 1998 to support Wyoming culture and heritage by funding innovative art projects. The five member board granted the awards to variety of projects, including historic preservation, theater and music programming, theater equipment, public art, museum exhibits and curation, music and literary educational programming.

The $50,000 grant to the Platte Valley Arts Council will help fund the organization’s public arts project.

Stacy Crimmins is the PVAC’s project coordinator. Crimmins approached the Saratoga Town Council in August seeking a letter of support in her effort to seek grant funding for the ambitious program to create at least six murals and sculptures around the valley.

The town council unanimously approved the letter of support. In a news release announcing the award of the grand, Crimmins said the budget for the project is over $122,000 and involves six local artists. Crimmins is currently matching artists with suitable locations and confirms that a sculpture will be located in the Tyler Pickett Park and at least one piece will be commissioned with the family of recently deceased artist Jerry Palen.

At that August 10th Saratoga Town Council meeting, Councilwoman D’Ron Campbell read from a letter from the Arts Council describing the project.

Crimmins said the project will culminate with a Grand Reveal Event featuring the artists during Labor Day 2022.
