Members of the public have called into question a building permit for the construction of the Memorial Hospital of Carbon County Saratoga clinic.

The main sticking point presented to the public has been about off-street parking.

The Saratoga Town Councilman who signed off on the permit questions whether the argument is really about parking or competition between competing clinics in the Platte Valley. The questions come from people with possible connections to another clinic scheduled to be built next year in Saratoga.

At the same time, two members of the town’s governing body have close ties to the hospital that is building the competing clinic. The story is complicated, and Emma Diercks has been following it.
