City officials in Rawlins say the drinking water remains clean and safe following an oil spill which occurred at a repair shop on Daley Street early Thursday.

The spill was first spotted by an operator at the wastewater treatment plant who noticed about a half-inch of oil flowing on top of the sewage in the first holding pond.

Employees from Public Works along with police and firefighters worked to track down the source. Technicians from the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality were also on hand. Officials called the cleanup efforts “successful.”

Cali O’Hare has the story.
