A well-regarded travel website has named the City of Rawlins one of the most hospitable towns in Wyoming.
Last week, WorldAtlas.com released its list of 11 most hospitable towns in the Cowboy State. The City of Rawlins was included on the list, along with Pinedale, Cody, and Rock Springs.
Launched in 1994, WorldAtlas.com began as a passion project by cartographer John Moen and his wife. Over the past 31 years, the website has grown into one of the most widely used geography resources on the internet.
In the concisely worded article, WorldAtlas.com described Rawlins as, “a historic railway settlement in Carbon County that came about when the Union Pacific Railroad passed through the area.” The article goes on to highlight the Wyoming Frontier Prison, Carbon County Museum, and the Rochelle Ranch Golf Course as must-see destinations for travelers.
The Carbon County Visitors Council, also known as Discover Carbon County, posted the WorldAtlas.com article on its Facebook page.
Commentors on the internet supported the city’s inclusion on the list of the most hospitable towns in Wyoming, with people explaining that they visited Rawlins in the past and were treated well by the locals. One commentor described a time when a family member left their wallet at a local diner, only to receive it in the mail several days later. Many people mentioned that they were proud to have been born in the city.
WorldAtlas.com also included Buffalo, Lander, Sheridan, Jackson, Powell, Dubois, and Thermopolis on its list of hospitable cities, writing that the Hot Springs County town is, “a delightful destination.”
The article notes that “The Cowboy State houses a string of down-to-earth communities oozing small-town charm and a genuine warmth.” Based on reader comments, many visitors to Rawlins agree with the city’s inclusion on the list of Wyoming’s 11 most hospitable towns.
