Rawlins City Council this week honored resident and local volunteer Tink Day for her work raising awareness about a variety of issues and helping others in the process. Day was presented with the Community Builder Award for September during Tuesday night’s council meeting.

Allen Robinson, Battalion Chief with the Rawlins Fire Department and member of the committee that selects the monthly recipient, presented the award. Robinson said Day is the only person who has the passion and drive to organize the annual 9/11 ceremony in the city, which she has been doing since 2002.

Day thanked the council and members of the public who attended Tuesday night’s crowded meeting. She also offered the reminder that this Sunday is the anniversary of 9/11.

The Community Builder Award is presented monthly to a local business or individual for their volunteer service, sponsorship or promotion of programs and events, outstanding service in the interest of the city and for other contributions to the quality of life in Rawlins.
