The Rawlins Family Recreation Center is hosting a dance for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.

This Friday, October 27th, is the first middle school dance at the Rawlins rec center. Recreation supervisor Nikki Howell said the event runs from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade school students in Carbon County.

Howell said attendees of Friday’s dance must show proof that they are in fact middle school students. The recreation supervisor said rec center staff will accept a wide variety of age verification sources.

Howell said home school kids won’t be excluded from the dance. The recreation supervisor said to contact the rec center to determine what type of proof of age will be accepted from home taught middle school students.

Howell said the middle school dance will feature a photo station, food, and live music. The recreation supervisor said rec center staff didn’t want to go overboard with activities at the first event of its kind.

Howell said tickets must be purchased from the recreation center in person. Advance tickets are $10 a piece. Tickets purchased at the door will cost $15. Howell said students with advance purchased tickets will gain access to the dance fifteen minutes early.

All bags will be inspected at the door. If a student leaves the rec center for any reason, they will not be permitted to return. School appropriate attire is required.

The middle school dance is this Friday, October 27th, from 7:00 to 9:00pm, at the Rawlins Family Recreation Center at 1616 Harshman Street. For more information, call 324-7529 or visit the rec center in person.
