A Rawlins woman is organizing a videogame livestream to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis research.
On March 1st and 2nd, Rebecca Padget will host an online charity event on the popular streaming platform, Twitch.
Padget, who goes by the username Victuuriouse, explained that she wants to use her Twitch channel to fundraise for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Nearly one million people in the United States are living with Multiple Sclerosis. Also called MS, Multiple Sclerosis is a disease where the immune system mistakenly attacks the protective covering of the nerves. The resulting damage disrupts communication between the brain and the rest of the body, leading to muscle weakness, balance problems, and fatigue. Currently, there is no cure for MS.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is working to change that. The nonprofit organization supports people suffering from MS and funds research to find a cure for the neurological disease.
Padget said when she was nine months old, her mother was diagnosed with MS. Despite her mother’s best efforts to fight the disease, Padget said she still had to structure her life around her mother’s condition.
Padget will stream herself playing videogames and reacting to YouTube videos on her Twitch channel to increase awareness of the disease and raise money for MS research. The content creator said she would like to raise $500 for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. If she achieves her goal, Padget said she will let her Twitch stream viewers choose a color for her to dye her hair.
People can contribute directly to Padget’s fundraiser through Tiltify, which is a website designed for livestreams and digital fundraising. Padget encouraged those who are unable to contribute financially to share her Twitch livestream instead. The content creator emphasized that every bit of support will help her achieve her goal of funding MS research.
Rebecca Padget will be streaming on her Twitch channel on March 1st and 2nd, from nine in the morning until nine at night. A link to Padget’s Twitch channel and her Tiltify page will be included in this story when it is posted to the Bigfoot99 website later today.
Padget said her mother is her rock and she will do whatever it takes to find a cure for MS.
