The Saratoga Recreation Department is preparing to open the town’s public swimming pool on June 3rd.
The town of Saratoga has an outdoor swimming pool located near the Hobo Hot Springs. Every summer, the town opens the pool to the public for a fee. As spring progresses, the town’s public works department is making sure the pool is ready to open as soon as the weather warms up.
At the April 16th Saratoga town council meeting, Recreation Director Kim Hemenway said work at town’s outdoor public swimming pool should begin next week. On top of standard maintenance required from being shut down for the winter, Hemenway said the pool will receive lighting upgrades.
Hemenway said she has scheduled lifeguard training at the pool on June 1st and 2nd. The recreation director mentioned having three returning staff members and said she is looking for more.
Hemenway then asked the council to approve the purchase of two steel epoxy-coated heavy-duty outdoor tables from Amazon.com. Hemenway said the tables aren’t cheap, at roughly $1,000 each, but their solid construction means the tables will likely last a long time.
The round tables come with umbrellas and three built-in benches.
Hemenway said the recreation department has the $2,000 needed to pay for the tables in its budget. She said the wooden tables currently at the pool require a lot of maintenance.
The Saratoga town council voted to allow Hemenway to purchase the two new tables.
Hemenway said, weather permitting, she expects the pool to open on Monday, June 3rd.
