School starts next week for Carbon County District One. For the second year in a row, Rawlins High School is offering a freshman orientation for the incoming class of students.

Principal Marnie Garner says tomorrow’s event starts at 9 a.m. All RHS freshmen are welcome to what Principal Garner says is a welcoming party as much as an orientation.

The five-hour session will be structured like a school day. Students will begin the day assembled, then break into smaller groups to familiarize themselves with the building and staff members they’ll be seeing a lot of over the next few years.

This is the second year of freshman orientation. Garner said last year’s experience was a positive one.

Garner said new staff will be going through their own orientation today, which is their first day back on campus. Returning RHS staff begin full-time next Monday. They will all be there tomorrow for Freshman Welcome Day, which begins at 9 a.m. and runs to 2 p.m. Please call (307) 328-9280.
