Despite a change in the web site that tracks possible flooding, the new NOAA.gov system shows that the North Platte River at Saratoga should remain in its banks this week.

The newly revamped web site is called the “National Water Prediction Service.” The retooled site has a new look and replaces the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service, which has been in service for a decade or more.

According to the graphic site that plots the elevation of the North Platte River at Saratoga near Bridge Street, spring runoff in the river will reach an elevation of 6.8 feet around midnight on Friday before beginning to ebb slightly on Saturday, June 1.

The long-range forecast for the river, extending to June 6, indicates the North Platte at Saratoga could trend above the action level of 7.5 feet on June 3rd, but the probability of reaching minor flood level of 8.5 feet remains low through the first week of June.

Bigfoot 99 will continue to monitor the situation.
