At the Encampment Town Council meeting held on September 11, Leroy Stephenson, the mayor of neighboring Riverside, suggested that Encampment could lease its spare police vehicle to his town.
The police car would be parked along Wyoming 230 near the intersection of Wyoming 70 to help deter speeding in the area at the southern end of the Platte Valley.
According to meeting minutes, Police Chief Shue advised that the Town of Encampment might need the spare police car occasionally to anchor the radar trailer.
Mayor Fagan expressed concerns about liability if the vehicle were damaged while not being used on official business.
After discussion, the Encampment town council said they would consider the issue. The Riverside mayor said he would allow the council to discuss the matter further and would return next month for an answer.
