Following a lengthy executive session near the end of the Saratoga Town Council’s July 5th meeting, the governing body approved raises for town employees.

According to draft minutes released yesterday, a series of five votes were taken. Four of the motions provided raises of at least eight percent for the town clerk, treasurer, public works director and recreation director.

A motion to increase the assistant town clerk/assistant treasurer by eight percent to $19.17/hour was challenged by the town clerk as not conforming with the increase discussed during budget workshops. The motion was rescinded. A second motion was made to increase the wage of the assistant clerk by four percent to $18.46. It carried with one dissenting vote.

The next town council meeting is scheduled for tonight at 6 p.m. following a public hearing at 5 p.m. to take comment about a proposed land swap between the town and a private property owner.
