A new police chief is on the job in the Platte Valley town of Saratoga.
At the March 4th Saratoga town council meeting, Mayor Chuck Davis announced that he would like Interim Chief John Moore to become the official chief of the Saratoga Police Department. Mayor Davis asked the council to approve his decision.
Audio PlayerAfter former Saratoga Police Chief Mike Morris was placed on medical leave last fall, then Lieutenant John Moore was selected by the town council to serve as the acting chief.
Upon his return to active-duty last month, Chief Morris requested to resign his position as head of the Saratoga Police Department and become a Lieutenant.
At the February 18th town council meeting, Mayor Davis chose Acting Chief Moore to serve as the interim chief until Morris’s replacement could be found.
Audio PlayerMoore only served as the interim chief for two weeks before the governing body unanimously voted to make him the official chief of police.
During the March 4th town council meeting, Mayor Davis administered the oath of office to Chief Moore.
Audio PlayerChief Moore, who formally worked for the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, joined the Saratoga Police Department in June of 2023. Before coming to Saratoga, Moore had over 17 years of law enforcement experience.
