SCWEMS is looking for a new director. On Thursday, August 21st, the South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Services Joint Powers Board announced that its current director, Stayton Mosbey, will resign in early September.
Mosbey has led SCWEMS since December of 2021, guiding the organization through staffing challenges and budget shortfalls. In May of 2023, Mosbey began the process of raising the amount of money SCWEMS charges each municipality. At the time, the organization was relying on population data from the 2010 census. However, by July, the ambulance service had transitioned to the 2020 figures and increased the per-resident charge from $30 to $34.
Mosbey also arranged a series of events and scholarships in an effort to attract more EMTs and paramedics to the organization.
In the South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Services Joint Powers Board announcement, Director Mosbey expressed his gratitude to SCWEMS and the people of Carbon County.
Joint Powers Board Chairman and Elk Mountain Mayor, Morgan Irene, thanked Mosbey for his efforts, saying that his dedication and service has strengthened the agency.
SCWEMS is looking for a new director, and Mosbey has offered to assist with the selection process to ensure a smooth transition. In the meantime, the SCWEMS Joint Powers Board has pledged to continue delivering timely and high-quality medical services throughout eastern Carbon County.
