Tomorrow—May 8th – is VE Day. Victory in Europe Day was first recognized and celebrated in 1945. It marks the formal acceptance of the Allies who fought in World War II of Germany’s unconditional surrender and the cessation of all its military operations.

Adolph Hitler had committed suicide on April 30th during the Battle of Berlin.

On the floor of the U.S. Senate Tuesday, Senator John Barrasso marked the occasion by honoring Wyoming troops as part of Military Appreciation Month. Senator Barrasso said this is a time to renew our commitment to those who defend our nation and our freedom. This is a moment to say, “Thank you,” the senator said.
