An animal rescue program in Rawlins is urgently asking for help with a cat hoarding situation.
On Saturday, November 29th, Pet Partners of Carbon County was notified of a cat hoarding situation in Rawlins. Pet Partners Board President Margaret Quintrall said the home contained approximately 30 cats.
Pet Partners of Carbon County has taken in five cats, while the Rawlins Rochelle Animal Shelter has accepted two others. Quintrall said that of the seven animals removed from the home, only two are socialized as a result of the hoarding situation.
Cats recovered from hoarding situations often exhibit unsocialized behaviors due to a lack of early socialization with humans and prolonged exposure to crowded, stressful environments.
Quintrall said the cats appear to be in good health despite the living conditions where they were found. She added that because of the number of animals involved, the status of every cat is not yet known.
The friendliest of the cats, a black medium‑haired named Baby, will be taken to a coffee house in Cheyenne that specializes in adoptions. Quintrall said Baby will be much better off there than in a cage.
To help find homes for the other cats, Pet Partners of Carbon County is hosting an adoption event at Bomgaars in Rawlins this Saturday. Quintrall said as a fundraiser, the organization is asking for $10 for children and pets to have their picture taken with Santa Claus.
Pet Partners of Carbon County is asking for donations of dry or wet cat and kitten food.
Donations can be dropped off at the Rawlins Tractor Supply. You can also make an online purchase of cat foot at Chewy.com and have the items delivered directly to Pet Partners by selecting the “Donate to a Rescue” tab and entering the Rawlins zip code.
Quintrall is also seeking volunteers to help care for the influx of animals.
Monetary donations can be mailed to Pet Partners of Carbon at PO Box 1618 in Rawlins. Bigfoot99 will also include a link to the organization’s online donation platform in this story.
Quintrall said the money will be used to spay and neuter the cats.
