Despite recent snowfall, the Battle Mountain and Snowy Range passes are still on schedule to reopen this weekend.

Yesterday morning, the Wyoming Department of Transportation District One Facebook page posted an update on the Snowy Range Road. The post states that WYDOT is anticipating five to ten inches of mountain snow this morning. Additionally, high winds have been reported, further hampering snow clearing efforts. However, Highway 130 is still anticipated to open this weekend, in time for Memorial Day.

In the southern end of Carbon County, WYDOT plow crews are also working to reopen the Battle Pass on Highway 70. District One Senior Public Relations Specialist Andrea Staley informed Bigfoot99 that crews are likely to make the Memorial Day weekend deadline. In fact, Staley wrote Highway 70 may even be reopened today or tomorrow. However, snow and high winds may force a delay.

The WYDOT District One Facebook page reminded motorists that neither pass is open just yet. Motorists who bypass the closure gates run the risk of becoming stranded.
