Last Thursday’s workshop between the Saratoga Town Council, the Impact Joint Powers Board and Lewis and Lewis was canceled.

During the November 15th town council meeting, the council members scheduled a special workshop with the Spring Avenue waterline replacement contractor, Lewis and Lewis. Mayor Creed James explained what the meeting would be about.

LDs are liquidated damages paid by Lewis and Lewis for breaching their contract with the town. As reported by Bigfoot 99, the project is far behind schedule. Originally slated to be completed by October, the job won’t be finished this year. The contractor is getting ready to wrap up for the season and Mayor James said they want to know how heavily the town will penalize them.

At that town council meeting, the workshop was scheduled for November 15th, at 6 p.m. Both council members Jon Nelson and Ron Hutchins said they couldn’t attend. Councilwoman Kathy Beck is out of town, and unable to make the meeting as well. Mayor James asked Town Clerk Marie Christen to set up a Zoom meeting for everyone that couldn’t participate in person.

Last Wednesday, Mayor James sent an email to the council stating the meeting was canceled because “a majority of the JPB is not going to be available for the workshop…”

According to Mayor James’ email, the Impact Joint Powers Board Chairman Richard Raymer, will work to find a suitable date to reschedule the meeting. As of the writing of this story, there has been no new date set for the workshop.

Lewis and Lewis’ representative asked to meet with the town as soon as possible. With Thanksgiving on Thursday, it doesn’t leave much time this week for the workshop to take place.
