Snowy Range recreation sites closed for cleanup

If you’re traveling across the Snowy Range to the Wyoming Cowboys home opener Saturday, you won’t be able to stop at some of the developed recreation sites along Highway 130. The Forest Service announced yesterday the temporary closure of several of the sites so hazardous trees can be removed.

Impacted developed recreation sites include:

  • Lake Marie Parking Lot
  • East Lake Marie Parking Lot
  • Mirror Lake Parking Lot
  • Tipple Trailhead Parking Lot/Picnic Area
  • Silver Lake Trailhead Parking Lot

All of the sites will not be closed at the same time and the Forest Service will work with the logging operator to minimize impact on visitors. It is expected that each site could be temporarily closed for anywhere from one day to multiple weeks, depending on work progression. Signs will alert visitors about which sites are closed.
