Saratoga officials looking for new zoning officer

Saratoga’s zoning officer resigned from his position on March 19th. The Town Council is looking into how best to find a replacement to fill the part-time position. Emma Diercks has the story.

Rawlins officials disagree on proposed changes to subdivision ordinance

Rawlins city staff and the Planning and Zoning Commission have made opposing recommendations to the Rawlins City Council regarding proposed changes to the subdivision ordinance.

In a work session held Tuesday, staff explained they want to keep the bonding requirement in the ordinance, while representatives of the Planning Commission contend the cumbersome requirement actually deters developers. Cali O’Hare was at the work session and filed this report.

 

 

Carbon County man airlifted after snowmobile crash

A local man was injured Sunday when his snowmobile crashed in the mountains near Encampment.

The Carbon County Sheriff’s Office reports that William Muhamet, age 35, was airlifted from the Blackhall Mountain area around 1:30 p.m. Sunday. A traveling companion, 30-year old Jacob Fluty of Saratoga, reported the mishap around 11:30, according to a release from the sheriff’s department.

Carbon County Deputy Kevin Shue initiated the search and rescue and contacted Classic Air Medical. Search and rescue team members from Encampment, Hanna, Ryan Park and Saratoga conducted the successful operation. No word on the condition of the injured snowmobiler.

 

Free tax preparation available for some area residents

Volunteer IRS certified tax preparers will be available in both Rawlins and Saratoga to help area residents with last minute tax filings. For those making less than $60,000 a year, the service is free. Cali O’Hare has more.

 

 

Saratoga officials explore baseball field renovations

The Town of Saratoga is looking into what work would be needed to renovate the baseball fields on the west end of the municipality by the dog park. Residents have expressed interest in starting a little league for children in the area. Emma Diercks reports.
