The Town of Elk Mountain is the latest winner in funding from the Wyoming Semi Quincentennial Planning Task Force.
Governor Mark Gordon announced the second round of awardees for the Grant Program on Thursday.
In the first round of winners announced earlier this month, grants totaling $90,610 were distributed to organizations around Wyoming. Several organizations from Carbon County made the first cut.
A second round of winners was announced yesterday.
Among the latest round of winners is the Town of Elk Mountain. A local group is working on a film that incorporates the stories of generations of community members, recognizing the pivotal role that homesteaders, miners, and timberman played in the community before the town’s formal establishment.
The film will honor the community’s history and act as a historical guide for younger residents.
Governor Gordon established the Task Force to develop and coordinate events and activities that honor and celebrate Wyoming’s contributions to the nation’s history as it prepares to celebrate our 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026.
