Trout Unlimited is inviting people to welcome Muddy Creek Project Manager Austin Quynn to the area.

Tomorrow evening, Trout Unlimited is hosting a meet and greet at the Snowy Mountain Brewery in Saratoga.

Wyoming native Austin Quynn is joining the conservation agency. Quynn said he has always been interested in the outdoors and working with Trout Unlimited was an easy decision to make.

According to their website, Trout Unlimited is a national non-profit organization with 300,000 members that is dedicated to conserving, protecting, and restoring America’s cold-water fisheries and watersheds.

Quynn said Trout Unlimited is preparing to undertake a conservation project south of Rawlins at Muddy Creek. The project manager said he will work with several government agencies to make the river habitable to desirable Colorado Cutthroat trout once again.

CRC means Colorado Cutthroat, a subspecies of trout native only to the Green and Colorado River basins.

Quynn said both man-made and natural causes have made the Muddy Creek a more challenging place for Colorado Cutthroat trout to live and spawn.

Quynn said the Muddy Creek project will involve creating spawning habitats for the trout and raising the river’s water level. Eventually, the project manager said he would like to remove some of the man-made barriers preventing the fish from easily accessing the creek.

Quynn said the Muddy Creek project is likely to take decades to complete. The project manager said the more assistance he has, the more work he can do on the project.

Quynn said Trout Unlimited relies on community support to accomplish its goal of freshwater habitat conservation. Tomorrow, the public is invited to meet Quynn and learn about him and the Muddy Creek project.

The Trout Unlimited Muddy Creek Project Manager Meet and Greet begins at 5:30pm tomorrow, May 31st. The event will be held at the Snowy Mountain Brewery and Pub, located at 601 Pic Pike Road in Saratoga.

The meet and greet is free to attend. However, organizers are asking people to register for the event. A link to the registration page will be included with this story when it is posted to the Bigfoot99 website later today.
