The Saratoga man accused of supplying deadly fentanyl laced cocaine to a local couple who died in early February is out on bond.

Max Schneider, 23, was arrested on February 17th for the overdose deaths of two Saratoga residents: Richard Heap and Cassidee Wingo.

According to court documents, on Friday, February 3rd, Schneider allegedly found a small baggie of white power in the bathroom of the restaurant he worked at. Later that night, he allegedly gave the bag to Wingo, his co-worker. Wingo and Heap were found dead the next morning.

An investigation by the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office and Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigations led to Schneider’s arrest nearly two weeks later. Schneider is charged with two counts of Manslaughter and one count of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, specifically fentanyl. He was initially held in the Carbon County Jail on a $150,000 cash-only bond.

Schneider’s case was moved to district court and his first arraignment was on March 27th. He pled not guilty, and his bond was reduced to $30,000 with a 10% signature deed. Schneider’s parents paid the $3,000 and signed the bond deed. He was released that same day.

Schneider has a pre-trial conference on July 24th to discuss the case and attempt to plead to a lesser charge. Schneider’s jury trial is slated to begin August 15th starting at 8:30am.

According to the court documents from Schneider’s indictment, a 3rd person died from allegedly consuming drugs from the same batch that killed Heap and Wingo. An unidentified Hanna man was found dead on February 13th from a fentanyl overdose. He was allegedly the source of the drugs. Court documents report that when the Hanna man died of an overdose, a similar small white baggie of powder was found near his body. The man’s roommates claimed the man, whose name has been withheld by DCI, lost the baggie in the Saratoga restaurant bathroom while high on drugs. There have been no more reported deaths in the nearly two months since the three deaths.

Sources tell Bigfoot99 the Hanna man was Scotty Lanclos from Opelousas, Louisiana. Multiple calls to DCI to confirm this information have not been returned.
