The University of Wyoming announced yesterday that trustees have approved a Fall Semester reopening plan that requires face masks through at least September 20th.

The Trustees said it will be a “traditional fall semester,” but students and employees will be be tested upon return to campus. Going forward, three percent of the campus population will be tested weekly, both vaccinated and unvaccinated. An education seminar on the virus will also be required viewing.

The mask mandate does not apply to people alone in their offices or private spaces. Medical exceptions are allowed. UW President Ed Siedel also has some discretion to lift the requirement in some circumstances. The Board of Trustees will revisit the requirements at it September 15th meeting.

The fall semester will begin August 23rd with face-to-face classes at full capacity.
