The Rawlins man arrested for illegally entering more than 30 vehicles has been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation before his case can continue.

On the morning of October 3rd, the Rawlins Police Department responded to calls concerning motor vehicle related burglaries in the Highland Hills section of the city.

After arriving on the scene, Rawlins Police Chief Mike Ward told Bigfoot99 that officers discovered numerous vehicles had been illegally entered throughout the night.

Around 11:00 am that same day, Rawlins police announced on social media that Highland Hills resident Linken Schoenfeld had been arrested for the crimes. Chief Ward said officers used nearby private security cameras to identify Schoenfeld as the perpetrator.

Schoenfeld’s age has not been officially released, but the suspect lists himself as 22-years-old on his social media accounts.

Schoenfeld was seen in Carbon County Circuit Court a few days after being arrested where he was charged with five counts of felony burglary. The suspect pleaded not guilty, and a preliminary hearing to determine if prosecutors have enough evidence to move forward with a full trial was scheduled for October 16th.

Schoenfeld did not receive the preliminary hearing as planned. Instead, the suspect was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation at the Wyoming State Hospital in Evanston. While there, doctors will determine if he is mentally fit to proceed to trial.

A date for Schoenfeld’s mental examination has not been set at this time. The suspect continues to be held in the Carbon County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond while he waits to be seen in Evanston.
