Carbon County Commission Chairwoman Sue Jones was honored Tuesday by the Wyoming County Commissioners Association.
The WCCA is an organization made up of commissioners from twenty-three Wyoming counties.
During Tuesday’s Board of Carbon County Commissioners meeting, Commissioner John Espy announced that Chairwoman Jones was presented with the “Riding for the Brand” award during the previous week’s WCCA meeting in Buffalo, Wyoming. Commissioner Espy read a letter by WCCA President Bill Novotny of Johnson County recognizing Chairwoman Jones’s efforts as a county commissioner and thanking her for a recent tour of Brush Creek Ranch.
Commissioner Espy continued to read from President Novotny’s letter congratulating Jones for being a small business owner and the first female Carbon County commission chairwoman.
Chairwoman Jones is the owner of Sunrise Sanitation in the Platte Valley.
Wyoming County Commissioners Association President Novotny wrote that Chairwoman Jones’s dedication to her business, the Carbon County Board of Commissioners, and the WCCA Revenue Committee led to her selection for this year’s “Riding for the Brand” award.
Commission Chairwoman Jones said President Novotny handpicked her to serve on the revenue committee because of her tenacity.
In 2022, Commissioner Espy was also selected to receive the WCCA’s “Riding for the Brand” award.
At yesterday’s meeting, Chairwoman Jones said Carbon County benefits from having two award recipients on the board.
