Carbon County residents should prepare for the big freeze coming in the weather through the weekend. The change includes a couple of rounds of snow beginning Thursday afternoon—just in time for Halloween.

The National Weather reported that residents should expect much colder temperatures Thursday through Sunday. Rounds of snow are expected Thursday afternoon into early Friday and late Friday and even into Saturday. Today will be the last warm days to finalize sprinkler blowouts, vehicle and home preparation and precautionary measures with outdoor pets and livestock.

The maximum temperatures in Rawlins through the weekend will be mid-40s on Thursday and Friday, 33 on Saturday, low 20s on Sunday and mid 20s on Monday and Tuesday. Lows will be in the single digits this weekend.

Today is a good day to make last minute preparations for winter around the house. If you have travel plans, pack along an emergency supply kit.
