In Saratoga on Monday, a WYDOT urban street striping crew began painting pedestrian crosswalks on all four sides of the intersection at First and Bridge. Steve Kappas with the crew said they will finish the work today.

Advanced warning signs for motorists were also installed as officials look to improve safety at the busy intersection in the town without stoplights. We asked the striping crew where the advanced signs are posted. The answer was more than we bargained for, and included the suggestion that stoplights might eventually be part of the traffic controls.

Traffic lights are a suggestion that might prove controversial for some town residents. Public Works Director Jon Winter updated told council last week that the state highway crew was teeing up the project for this week. Winter also updated council on how the no-parking zones at three of the corners were recently extended.

Councilman Jon Nelson, in a comment to the Bigfoot 99 social media page, thanked the WYDOT crew, state traffic engineer Ryan Shields and the town public works department for working together to make the project happen.
