In Rawlins, Wyo Help will close its food distribution center next month.
Wyo Help is a state-wide charity dedicated to ending poverty. The organization announced that all local resource offices in Wyoming will close in March.
The organization announced on its Facebook page that a change in funding requires the closure of all its physical offices in Carbon, Crook, Goshen, Niobrara, Washakie, and Weston Counties.
Resource coordinators will continue to be available remotely until March 20th or, as Wyo Help states, “until they have secured alternative employment.”
Administrative staff will be available to provide online assistance to those in need of continued support and resources. However, Wyo Help writes that a reduction from eight staff members down to just two means that the organization is unlikely to be able to handle the 7,000 phone calls it typically receives each month.
In addition to the closure of all physical offices, Wyo Help is also shuttering its food pantry in Rawlins. The facility is scheduled to close on Friday, March 14th.
WyoHelp writes that the Torrington food pantry is expected to remain in operation as long as the community supports it through volunteers and local donations. However, the Torrington office will only operate as a food pantry and will not be available to provide any other resources.
There appears to be some good news on the horizon. In its social media post, the charity organization said it is starting a new program this July, although no additional details about the program were provided.
