In Washington, D.C., Wyoming Congresswoman Harriet Hageman supports a bill to remove Pride Month and replace it with “Family Month.”

On June 4th, Illinois Congresswoman Mary Miller from Oakland, the most Republican district in the Land of Lincoln, introduced House Resolution 745 to the United States House of Representatives.

The measure calls for renaming June as “Family Month.” The bill proposes eliminating the federal recognition of Pride Month in June and replacing it with a celebration of the nuclear family.

Congresswoman Miller’s bill states that the traditional nuclear family is the foundation of a healthy society and mothers and fathers play a crucial and irreplaceable role in the upbringing of their children. The Congresswoman added that the best environment for children to thrive is a home with a married mother and father.

In 1999, President Bill Clinton declared the first gay Pride Month. Since that time, Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden have also officially recognized Pride Month, which, Congresswoman Miller wrote, rejects the importance of marriage and family.

The bill states that every June, Americans are inundated with perverse gay and lesbian Pride Month displays that denigrate the nuclear family. The celebrations often disparage people who hold traditional views of marriage and family. Congresswoman Miller equates the decline of traditional marriage to rising crime, drug abuse, and other societal ills.

In her bill Congresswoman Miller wrote that our survival as a country and civilization depends on the continuation of traditional marriage and family.

Wyoming Congresswoman Harriet Hageman officially expressed her support for the measure. Not only did Congresswoman Hageman co-sponsor the Family Month bill with 20 other House Republicans, she also stated on social media that Family Month will celebrate traditional values rather than the left’s radical agenda.

House Resolution 745 was referred to the House Committee on Education and Workforce the same day it was introduced. As of this report, the measure has yet to be debated by the Committee.

Miller operates a farm in eastern Illinois where she and her husband grow grain and raise cattle. They have seven children and 20 grandchildren.

The “Family Month” resolution argues that the best environment for children to thrive is a home with a married mother and father, pointing to an ultra-high divorce rate in the U.S. and the rise of youngsters delaying or forgoing marriage and family. Backed by several conservative lawmakers and advocacy groups such as Moms for America and the Family Research Council, the resolution states that American civilization depends on the “continuation of traditional marriage and family” and calls upon the House of Representatives to recognize the societal benefits of heterosexual marriage.
