Wyoming’s Superintendent of Public Instruction Megan Degenfelder announced Monday that she will run for governor this year.

President Donald Trump announced last week on his Truth Social media platform that the Wyoming native will have his “Complete and Total Endorsement”.

Degenfelder, a Republican, was previously the Manager of Government Affairs for Southland Royalty Company and Cloud Peak Energy. She was Chief Policy Officer of school superintendent Jillian Balow.

Degenfelder was elected Superintendent in November of 2022 and assumed office in January of 2023.

Governor Mark Gordon is in the final year of his second term in office.

Also running for the office of Wyoming governor this year are former state House Speaker and current state Senator Eric Barlow. Brent Bien, who challenged Gordon in 2022, is also running for the seat, as is Joseph Kibler, a Republican-turned Independent.
