The jobless numbers in Wyoming continue to improve, but they are still not back to pre-Covid levels.

The Research & Planning section of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services reports that the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell slightly from 3.8% in January to 3.7% in February. In raw numbers, that means from January to February, 630 Wyoming residents returned to work. February’s jobless rate in Carbon County was 3.8 percent, down from 4.1 in January. The number stood at 5.4 in 2021.

Unemployment rates decreased from year-ago levels in every county. The largest decreases occurred in Natrona (down from 8.3% to 5.0%). Wyoming’s unemployment rate has been trending downward since its peak of 8.6% in May 2020. Despite the improvements, unemployment remained higher last month than in pre-Covid 2019, when Wyoming’s jobless rate was 3.5 percent.
