Empty possessions doomed the Cowboys on the way to a 68-49 loss to BYU on Saturday night in Salt Lake City.

Wyoming dropped their fourth straight game, falling behind early, spotting the Cougars 11 points after a slow and disorganized start. The Cowboys regrouped a bit in the first half and were down by only nine points at the half, 34-25. Down the stretch, Wyoming’s lackluster defensive play allowed BYU to pull away with open three-point shots.

The Wyoming team has been pushed to the brink. The Cowboys have not played a home game since the Friday before Thanksgiving when they beat Southeastern Louisiana in the Double A 64-61.

Head coach Sundance Wicks admitted after Saturday night’s loss that the stretch away from Laramie has been a grueling test of endurance.

Obi Agbim finished the night with 21 points after 38 minutes of action. Agbim shot eight of 12 from the field, three of six from the arc and two of two from the free throw line.

Wyoming is now 5-and-5 on the season.

Coach Wicks said the process of winning requires players committing to the process of becoming a team.

The Cowboys have two non-conference games remaining on their schedule before the Christmas break. Wyoming will host the 3-and-8 Bellarmine on Thursday. Out of Louisville, Kentucky, the Knights are closing out their non-conference schedule with back-to-back games in Laramie and then Boulder, Colorado.

The Cowboys and the Knights will tip Thursday night at 6:30 inside the Arena Auditorium. We’ll have the game here on Bigfoot 99 with the pregame show starting at 6:00 p.m.
