Bad news for Wyoming from Boise. The Broncos senior running back George Holani returned to practice on Sunday and is expected to play against the Cowboys Saturday. The senior hasn’t played since the season opener.
Look for Holani and running back/slash receiver Ashton Genty to see a lot of action Saturday against the Cowboys.
Boise State Coach Andy Avalos also said this week that the Broncos’ top 10 offensive linemen are healthy for the first time since fall camp. Interior linemen Garrett Curran, Mason Randolph and Ben Dooley are all expected to play this week.
In Laramie, Wyoming head football coach Craig Bohl said the Cowboys are coming off the bye week prepared to take on one of the premier teams in the Mountain West. Bohl said quarterback Andrew Peasley is rested and ready to play after the bye week. The coach admitted that Peasley’s ability to command the offense will be a big key to Saturday’s game.
Peasley threw for a season-high 212 yards at Air Force, including three touchdowns. He also rushed for one. Over his last three games, Peasley has thrown for seven scores and rushed for two more. Coach Bohl said Peasley has been playing with a high level of confidence.
Running back Harrison Waylee is expected to return to the backfield for Wyoming after sitting out the Air Force game because of concerns over earlier swelling in his right knee. Waylee said this week that Saturday’s game is going to come down to the play of the running back.
Coach Bohl talked about a more balanced approach.
In Boise this week, Coach Avalos noted that while his entire offensive line will be available this week, they will be facing one of the most imposing defenses in the Mountain West.
Wyoming and Boise State both return to action this week in a conference showdown with a lot on the line for both teams. Kick off on the Smurf Turf is set for 3:30 Saturday afternoon.
