Two hungry dogs and one piece of meat: That’s how Wyoming is approaching Saturday night’s matchup with Appalachian State.

War Memorial Stadium will be the scene of a dogfight played under the lights in Laramie.

The two teams resemble each other in their blue-collar toughness. Both the Cowboys and the Mountaineers come into tomorrow night’s prime-time matchup with 2-and-1 records. Cowboy Head Coach Craig Bohl said fans will have a ringside seat for a dogfight.

Wyoming and App State are both at 2-1 headed into game four of the season. The Mountaineers come into the matchup averaging over 450 yards per game with their explosive, high tempo offense. Quarterback Joey Aguilar has completed nearly 59% of his passes and is averaging 230 passing yards per game. Running back Nate Noel is nation’s top rusher with 422 yards on 76 carries.

Once again the seasoned Cowboys defense is going to be put to the test.

Wyoming has its own weapon in the backfield, Harrison Waylee.

The 5-10, 200 pound junior running back got the Pokes on scoreboard against Texas in the first quarter last week with a gashing run up the middle. Waylee was named #1 in the backfield rotation this week. He talked this week about what was going through his mind during the first two games of the season when all he could was watch from the sidelines.

Waylee finished his first career start for Wyoming with 110-yards rushing. His number 4 is likely to be called early and often tomorrow night.

Defensive tackle Jordan Bertagnole picked up three assists last week. The 6-4, 290 lineman said this week that Wyoming is a special place to play because the offense and defense see themselves as one team. Beragnole said tomorrow night’s game promises to be physical.

No decision has been made, or at least announced, on who will be under center for Wyoming tomorrow night. Andrew Peasley sat out last week with an injured shoulder. So far this year, Peasley has recorded 350 yards through the air, 116-plus yards per game, completing 58% of his passes, including five touchdowns and one interception. He has added 111 rushing yards on 21 carries with one touchdown. Coach Bohl said earlier this week that Peasley remains his starting quarterback, but the decision of who will be under center has not been announced yet.

The Cowboys and the Mountaineers, with their matching win-loss records through the first three games, are both looking to wrap up their non-conference schedules with strong finishes tomorrow night.

Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. The pregame show hits the airwaves at 3:30 p.m. here on Bigfoot 99.
