The Wyoming Cowboys dominated the first half of play against New Mexico Tuesday night. The Lobos were at 26-points below its scoring average, but the Pokes still fell 61-53 at home on Tuesday night.
The Cowboys dominated in the first frame, building a 32-18 lead. The Lobos dialed up their defensive pressure in the second half last night, forcing the Cowboys to make poor shot selections in the second frame.
The game slipped away in the second half as the Pokes were outscored 61-53.
Wyoming is now 2-3 in conference play, 9-7 overall.
After the loss Tuesday night, head coach Sundance summed it up this way.
Wyoming’s leading scorer Obi Agbim was sidelined for the second game in a row with a sprained ankle. The Cowboys could not sustain their defensive pressure in the second half, as the Lobos went on a 17-1 run.
Wyoming senior guard Donte Allen was the leading scorer for the Pokes with 11 points. Freshman Henry Cole added 10.
The Cowboys are off this weekend, returning to action in a road game against Boise State Tuesday night.
The Wyoming Cowgirls are in action tonight against New Mexico in the Pit at 7 p.m. Bigfoot 99 will be on the air at 6:30 with the matchup.
