The Cowboys sputtered and flopped against San Jose State in the second half Saturday afternoon, losing 82-73.
With five minutes left on the clock, the game was close—a point a one-point battle inside the Arena Auditorium. As time ran short, the Trojans made their last nine points while bottling up Wyoming’s best shooter, Obi Agbim.
It was a battle of two halves. The Cowboys dominated early, shooting off to an early 12-point lead.
Keith Kelly had the call on the Wyoming basketball network as Wyoming took early control of the game. Wyoming shot 47.3 percent in the contest and were 8-of-19 from behind the arc for 42.1percent. Down the stretch, Wyoming could not keep the Spartans out of the paint.
Head coach Sundance Wicks said it came down to one-on-one battles.
The Pokes could not stop the Spartans from scoring in the paint. Wyoming held the lead twice in the second half but could not defend it.
Obi Agbim led the Cowboys in scoring with 20 points. Jordan Nesbitt added season-high 18.
The Cowboys return to action on Tuesday with a trip to Nevada set for an 8 p.m. start on the Mountain West Network.
