In sports, the Wyoming Cowboys will restart the season tomorrow with the home opener in Laramie against Idaho State.

Quarterback Evan Svoboda and the Cowboys are looking to rebound after opening the season last week with 48-7 loss at Arizona State. The load doesn’t get much lighter this week.

The Vandals come in nationally ranked, 7 in the FCS poll. They were picked to finish the season in third in the competitive Big Sky Conference. Last week, the Vandals were competitive against #3 Oregon despite a 38-15 loss.

The Vandals exposed major holes in Oregon’s offensive line. Despite the win, the Ducks paid a price. Oregon dropped from #3 to #7 in the AP’s Top 25 poll this week.

When Jay Sawvel was hired as head football coach last December, his marching orders from Athletic Director Tom Burman were clear, “Win a Championship. Sawvel said this week that nobody is looking ahead to next week after what happened last week.

Reports out of Laramie this week indicate that the Cowboys have been hard at work getting ready since Monday.  Quarterback Eric Svoboda will start his first home game tomorrow, and he’ll be looking to improve after last week’s disappointing outing in Tempe that resulted in opening the season with a lopsided loss.

Tomorrow’s matchup….Wyoming versus Idaho State… is set to kick off at 1:30 p.m. in sun-bathed War Memorial Stadium. A sell-out crowd is expected. We’ll be on the air at high noon here on Bigfoot 99 with the pre-game show featuring Keith Kelly and Kevin McKinney.
