The Cowboys dug deep and overcome a 17-point deficit for a 75-73 win against conference foe San Jose State.

The Cowboys fought back with defense throughout the second half for the biggest comeback win since 2016.

With a man in his face, Akuel Kot hit the buzzer beater for the win.

It was good. In their first game of 2024, the Cowboys pulled off their biggest comeback win in eight years. UW trailed UNLV by 17 in 2016. Last night’s shot was the first buzzer beater inside the double since 2004.

UW Head Coach Jeff Linder, obviously relieved after the game, said “Welcome to conference play.”

Wyoming was led in scoring by Sam Griffin with 23 points for his seventh game of 20 or more points this season. He was 7-of-9 from the field in the second half. Forward Oleg Kojenets added a career-high 18 points.

The Cowboys shot 42 percent from the field on the night but shot 53 percent in the second frame.

The Cowboys head to New Mexico for a road game on Saturday in an 8 p.m. start.
