The seventh seed Wyoming Cowgirls are headed to the semi-finals of the Mountain West Tournament. Wyoming overpowered second seed UNLV with a barrage of triples. The Cowgirls never let up in the 76-52 win. From start to finish, Wyoming lit up the score board at the Thomas and Mack Arena in Las Vegas with a frenzy of three-pointers.

Keith Kelly with call on KBDY last night as Quinn Weideman gave the Cowgirls an 18-point lead to close out the third quarter.

The Cowgirls showed no rust after the long COVID-related layoff: 22 days in February without a game. Everybody got in on the party with 15 triples. Tommi Olson hit four. Quinn Weidemann hit four. Bradshaw, Ellis, Ustowska with two each. Sanchez Ramos knocked down one.

Associate head coach Heather Ezell said the Cowgirls were found the groove early.

The Cowgirls are peaking at the right time, she added.

The nightcap was also a shocker. Sixth seed Boise State upset #3 Colorado State 78-65. The semi-final bracket will look like this: #4 Fresno State squares off against #1 New Mexico in the early game. The Cowgirls tip against Boise State at 8:30 p.m. in a game broadcast on KBDY 102.1 FM.

Earlier Monday in Mountain West Tournament action, #1 seed New Mexico knocked off 9th seed Air Force, 67-51. #4 Fresno State crushed #5 Nevada 70-46.
