Spring football opened in Laramie on Tuesday.
The first of 15 practices, this spring, saw the Cowboys hit the field in helmets and shorts. Full pads will not be worn until Saturday.
“Fun to get back out on the field,” Head Coach Jay Sawvel said.
The work to be done with the new players is all about the details. It was all but noted his new crop of players “have a lot of work to do.”
Alignments and assignments were the top priority yesterday. Where your eyes go, how to move your feet, and where to hold your hands were key points on the first day.
Players will watch the video from the first day of practice today.
The Cowboys had 19 players appear in their first practice at the Brown and Gold on Tuesday. Of the 19 new players 16 are transfers to the program from four levels of college football, as the group features an experienced core. Wyoming also saw three recent high school graduates join the team for the spring.
Another Wyoming basketball player is leaving the fold.
AJ Wills is headed out of Laramie through the NCAA Transfer Portal. Wills follows the Cowboys’ leading scorer, Obi Agbim to the open market.
Wills, a 6-foot-2, 160-pound sophomore, played one season at Wyoming after transferring from Holy Cross. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
The product of Richmond, Virginia averaged 4.8 points per game and dished out nearly two assists while playing less than 20 minutes per night.
