In Sports, across the state line, in Fort Collins, Colorado State Head Coach Jay Norvell made a change at quarterback this week.
Coach Norvell named backup quarterback Jackson Brousseau the starter this week against Washington at Canvass Stadium.
Brousseau is a 6-4, 220-pound sophomore from Lehi, Utah. Brousseau will make his first start Saturday after replacing Brayden Fowler Nicolosi.
Brousseau came into Saturday’s game against UTSA. He completed 10 of 12 passes for 78 yards and threw his first career touchdown pass to Rocky Beers on a 75-yard drive.
Coach Norvell talked about the decision to name Brousseau the starter for this week’s game.
The Rams are 1-2 on the season, so far. The Washington State Cougars come into Fort Collins this week after a 45-25 loss to the Washington Huskies.
Checking the Mountain West football standings at the start of week, Fresno State sits at the top of the conference with a 4-1 record.
The Bulldogs, Utah State, and Boise State all have 1-0 conference records.
UNLV is 4-0 but has yet to play a conference game. Like Wyoming, the Rebels will enjoy a bye this week before traveling to Laramie for a Saturday afternoon game against the Cowboys on October 4. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. Mountain time.
