The Wyoming Cowboys fought mightily without their leading scorer in the lineup. They fell in Laramie to Utah State on Tuesday night 71-67.

The undermanned Cowboys were without their leading scorer Obi Agbim, who was sidelined with an injury. Wyoming played tough but 34.5 percent shooting in the second half wasn’t enough firepower against the Aggies, who improved to 10-2 in conference play.

The Cowboys fell to 11-12 on the season, 4-8 in conference play. Utah State earned its 20th win of the season. The Aggies are 20-3 overall, 10 and 2 in conference play.

The Cowboys led by seven points late in the first half, five at the break with junior center Scotte Ebube breaking away for a jam.

Despite the loss at home, Wyoming Head Coach Sundance Wicks said after the game that he was encouraged by what he saw from his young team on Tuesday night.

The Cowboys are back in action in the Arena-Auditorium on Saturday hosting UNLV at 2 p.m.
