Boise State did not play a perfect game last week. The Broncos ultimately beat San Jose State 42-21 last Saturday, but the Broncos trailed the Spartans early on, 14-0. Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson put it this way.

The Broncos rolled the Spartans with a season-tested formula. They fed the ball to running back Ashton Jeanty, who ran for 159 yards and three touchdowns as he remains in competition for the Heisman Trophy.

The Broncos picked up their eighth straight win. With two games left on the regular season, Jeanty is on target to rack up more than 2,000 yards rushing and more than 30 rushing touchdowns on the season. Boise State, whose only loss this year came to top-ranked Oregon, remains on track for a spot in the College Football Playoff if they win the conference title. Coach Danielson is looking past the 2-and-8 Cowboys this week.

Saturday’s matchup is bound to be a grind. Wyoming Head Football Coach Jay Sawvel said this week that the Broncos are probably the best Mountain West team that he’s seen in five years.

The Cowboys are coming off a 24-10 road loss to Colorado State. Saturday is senior day at War Memorial Stadium. After the loss, Sawvel received a pep talk from his predecessor, former Wyoming head football coach Craig Bohl.

The Cowboys have been dealing with a litany of injuries this season but so has Boise State.

Sawvel offered a glimpse of Wyoming’s strategy headed into Saturday night’s matchup against a team that is contention for an NCAA playoff game in another month.

Wyoming and Boise State will kick off at 5 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Bigfoot 99 will be on the air with the pregame show at 3:30. The Cowboys will close out the season the following week against Washington State.
