Sundance Wicks and the Wyoming Cowboys announced late last week two transfers to Laramie. Joining the team are guards Damarion Dennis and Buddy Hammer Jr.

Dennis, a 6-foot-1 freshman, started nine of 34 games at Texas A&M Corpus Christi in 2024-25. He shot 48% from the field and 39% from beyond the arc (29 of 75) as well as 80% from the foul line in averaging 6.7 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.

Dennis likely steps in as a contender for the starting point guard role given his efficient shooting and low turnover rate (8.8%).

Hammer could be “the hammer” the Cowboys have been missing. The 6-foot-7 junior could fit into the Wyoming starting lineup in several spots. Hammer averaged 12.6 points and 10 rebounds per game as a sophomore at Northeastern Oklahoma junior college. He shot 54% from the field last season and 58% as a freshman at Connors State College.

Both players have at least two years of collegiate eligibility remaining.

Hammer could be around even longer.  A recent NCAA Division I Board of Governor’s ruling means Hammer could have four years of eligibility while at UW.

The Cowboys remain on the prowl for additional talent via the transfer portal.
