What started as a competitive, high-energy game in the Pit Saturday night in Albuquerque turned ugly as Wyoming fell 78-58.

With the loss, Wyoming falls to 10-4 overall, 1-2 in Mountain West play.

Wyoming shot 40% from the floor, just 8 of 25 in the second half. The Cowboys shot just 25% from three-point range. From the free-throw line, the Cowboys shot 9 of 13.

The Lobos outrebounded Wyoming by 7, 37-to-30.

The Cowboys turned the ball over 13 times compared to nine for New Mexico.

Wyoming started off hot in the first half and led for 14-minutes and 52 seconds. The Cowboys’ largest lead was seven.

The Cowboys lost steam in the last part of the first half to trail by three at the break. The Lobos went to outscore Wyoming 44-27 in the second half.

Head coach Sundance Wicks was in rant mode as he described what went wrong for Wyoming.

Adam Harakow, who got the start in place of an injured Matija Belic, landed six, including a three-pointer to open the scoring.

New Mexico has won 20 straight at home, including 13 in a row in Mountain West play.

Wyoming returns home Tuesday night to take on UNLV. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. inside the Arena-Auditorium. We’ll have the game for you here on Bigfoot 99 starting with the pregame show at 7:30.

Meanwhile, the Wyoming Cowgirls fell to San Diego State 72-55. Wyoming is now 4-9 overall, 1 and 3 in conference play.

In the NFL, the Denver Broncos secured the AFC’s top playoff seed with a 19-3 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
