It was all Wyoming Cowgirls on Wednesday night in a 59-40 win over New Mexico at home in the Double A.

The Cowgirls defense shut down New Mexico, holding the Lobos to a season low in points per game. New Mexico scored just 17 points in the second half, nine in the third period, eight points in the fourth.

With the win, the Cowgirls improve to 12-4 in conference play, holding down third place right behind Colorado State. The Rams also won last night.

Senior, Alyson Fertig, was back in action, scoring a team-high 17 points. Junior guard Malene Pedersen added 11.

Wyoming Head Coach Heather Ezell applauded her team’s effort in the Dome of Doom.

The Cowgirls head out on the road for their final game of the season on Friday against Colorado State for the closing round of the Border War. Wyoming lost the first round, 56-61, on January 25 at home in the Arena Auditorium.

The Cowgirls and Rams are both 12-4 in Conference play and tied for second place behind UNLV. CSU routed Nevada last night 61-45 on the road. Tip is set for 6 p.m.
